Caesarean & VBAC Support Group

Caesarean & VBAC Support GroupThe aim of the group:

These informal get togethers are run so women have a ‘safe’ place to talk about their birth experiences, especially their caesarean experience. The environment allows you to embark on your own personal journey of healing and empowerment.

All the women you meet within the group are on their own unique journey into motherhood, and are trying to find a way to deal with and process the things that have happened to their bodies and minds through birth. Everyone is at a different stage in this journey, some just beginning, and some nearing the end of their birthing years.

The idea behind this informal group is to also give women the opportunity to speak with others who share the common experience of birthing by caesarean section and/or that are also interested or experienced in VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean).

The topics of conversation can be predetermined or just 'flow' on the day. Come along and talk about your experiences or just listen to other women's stories eg. Hear how other women have coped with (or are coping with) the challenges of planning a VBAC. The facts, myths, fears and the emotions that surround the decision of a VBAC or elective caesarean birth are commonly shared in this supportive and informative environment.

We ask all women at the meetings to be mindful and respectful of each other, and honour their colleagues for the time they are here. We also ask that anything that is said in the meetings be held in a confidential nature, within the BirthWise community. This enables us to keep the ‘safe’ environment that we can offer you.

We will not judge you, or the choices that you make during your time in our group. We can provide you with support and ideas on healing and future births.

The group meets once a month.

“If we want to heal we have to start getting honest with ourselves and others.
Creating the possibility for more truth is up to each of us.”
Anne Wilson Schaef

Who is welcome?

The group welcomes women that are already pregnant who are considering their pregnancy and birth options, women who have experienced a caesarean, women who have experienced a VBAC or those who planned a VBAC and experienced a repeat caesarean, or those considering an elective caesarean.

Partners and friends are also welcome.
